No, this is not a paradox. The companies that open a business in Dubai Airport Free Zone can now be licensed to operate also in Dubai mainland.
If one of the main characteristics (and limits) of the free zone entities was that its registered companies wouldn’t be able to operate out of the boundaries of the free zone (this is particularly true when it comes to free zones companies that want to sell and distribute their products in the stores in the mainland), now things are changing.
Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) has, in fact, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Economic Development (DED) to allow the companies of DAFZA to get a dual license to operate freely in all the territory of Dubai.
The two entities will work closely to ensure that the businesses working within DAFZA will operate in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Emirate and to weed out fraud cases.
The aim is to promote investment, attract new companies and increase the business in the Emirate of Dubai.
